Parc Animalier Des Pyrenees

Welcome to Parc Animalier Des Pyrenees or Bienvenue in French.

On Sunday the temperature had dropped about 10 deg overnight which made it perfect for going to visit the animal park. It was on the side of a mountain so lots of walking uphill.

First were the birds. It was feeding time & the warden was chatting away in french obviously trying to tell us something. Jo's french is very good & she could understand that he was trying to tell us to be careful we didn't get pooped on!!

The indoor part was full of stuffed animals and was very realistic. B's favourite's are always the otters & this time you could see them right up close even when they were swimming. They glide effortlessly when they are under the water. Not quite sure what this animal is as it was all in french!!!

The kids loved getting the chance to feed the marmots. They are funny little creatures that only live in the pyrenees mountain region and can still be seen roaming in the wild. The ones at the park were very tame & obviously used to being fed lettuce & carrots by children.

This bear was a little too close for comfort as there didn't appear to be much between us and him.
J was very happy with himself now that he is no longer scared of peacocks. We all got a shock when one of the hens with the feathery feet that was hiding behind the little all jumped up and sat on the wall. Nobody was expecting it, but the peacock jumped up shortly after too.

Guinea pigs .... the babies were tiny & very cute. J wasn't quite so keen on feeding the goats as they licked his hands. This time he just watched the others.
