Wizard Festival 2010

This year we went to the Wizard Festival in New Deer which is a two day music festival. We had an adults only night on Friday while the kids stayed at Granny & Granda's night & kids joined us on Saturday. They decided to stay in the tent overnight as their friends were camping too.

Sandi Thom on the main stage.

Inside the Snafu Tent.
The Peatbog Fairies were on just before James on Friday Night. We didn't stay to watch James as the heavens opened again & we got a proper soaking but we listened to it all from our tent as you could hear all the acts on the main stage quite clearly from there.

Breakfast time on Saturday morning.

Our friend S from Taekwondo with his new poncho & hat!

Mud! There was a lot more of it by the time the weekend was over. Welly boots were needed!!
The Snafu tent was dance tent.

The Dangleberries were very good.
The kids amused themselves doing 3 legged races in the campsite.

A beautiful rainbow appeared over the campsite after yet another rain shower on Saturday afternoon.

Up at the festival the kids all had a go on the bungee run.

Ooops! J almost reached the end but then bounced all the way back to the start.

All four kids were right at the front when we were watching Alabama 3. The boys wanted the toilet so they went away & then watched most of the set from the stands then went for some chips & played in the arcade. The girls stayed right to the end.

Back in the tent with the night lights before the weather took a turn for the worse during the night.

The campsite when we got up very early on Sunday morning. It had been gale force winds & rain most of the night & we didn't get much sleep. A lot of tents had blown away or collapsed & picnic tables & gazebos were demolished.

BRG Challenge

The Broch, Rosehearty, Gamrie coastal challenge, 17 1/2 miles of hilly buchan coastline. Looking fresh at the start line, trying not to think about the pain ahead of us.

Some photos of the route along the buchan coastline.

Killer hill approaching, 20 deg incline!

Looking down on the finish line, still about a mile of winding descent to go

I finished the run in 2hrs 40mins, Jackie walked it in 4hrs 45mins.

Gardenstown harbour

Youngest competitor at 9 years old made the full distance by bike, well done M.

Michael & Bobby on the home straight

All smiles at the finish

It's all thanks to Duncan!
